A while ago I had this crazy idea for a personal project. Let’s take cosplay characters and put them into situations or scenes that you wouldn’t expect to find them in. It took a long time before I finally had the time to start shooting it, and that time has come…kind of. While I had the characters at my disposal, I thought it would be a good idea to shoot them and edit them as normal as well. Good thing too, I haven’t really had the time lately to go out and shoot the background images I want for the characters you are about to see.
So, I have taken to calling the project now “on and off duty”. I want all the images to have a film and TV advertising poster feel to them. They are all being shot as composite images and should be pretty awesome once they are done. Being the picky bastard that I am, I also refuse to use images in my composites that I haven’t personally shot. This has many, many advantages, but the one disadvantage with a personal project such as this is time. I haven’t had the time to get the “off duty” background images I want for these characters. But, I think you will agree that the “on duty” images are pretty badass anyways!
This is a family of cosplayers known as “The Super Maians“. They came to me with these amazing steampunk variations on DC comic characters. Needless to say, I thought they were awesome! We also have some Assassins Creed photos from the day as well, and my over ambitiousness has left me with a shed load of ideas for these guys. So, here is part 1! Just a little taster of more to come.
What do you think the “off duty” photos for these characters will be? Leave your answers in the comments below!
