George Fairbairn Photography is an award winning professional photographer based just outside of Bury St. Edmunds covering all of the UK and East Anglia including Norwich, Cambridge, Ipswich as well as Essex and London. George has established himself as one of Britain’s creative rising stars according to an article in the Professional Imagemaker. George specialises as a band photographer, music photographer, urban photographer, advertising photographer, celebrity photographer, fashion photographer as well as model and beauty photographer. George Fairbairn Photography is known for our ability to create amazing images that are creative and contemporary and can be used in promotion, advertising, or just to have as portraits. We love the variety that we can get by just going around to different locations and finding a background that fits the images…instead of relying on studio backdrops. We can, and do, offer a studio type of service, but our style of photography is known and won awards for the things we do in the outside (or inside) world. We bring with us a fully portable studio set up (lights and lighting modifiers) and are used to getting down and dirty to get the shots you need. We are also fully competent in photoshop and can offer up composite photography as well. Basically this allows us to shoot you against a white background and then assemble an image later. This allows us to make images that we normally wouldn’t be able to do. i.e. putting you into a background that we couldn’t get access to, or creating an image that just doesn’t exist.
What exactly is a Band Photographer?
Let’s start with what exactly band photography is. Band photography is a form of photography that focuses on capturing musical acts either live or in a posed scene to be used for promotion, advertising, artistic, or archival purposes. A band photographer is the crazy person that loves doing this sort of thing. Being a band photographer is probably the greatest joy that I get being a professional photographer. You get to create images and scenes that you just normally couldn’t do for a portrait session. The images have to speak to the viewer. They have to tell the audience who this band is, what they are about, and what they can expect if they were to listen to them. This is a tall task and requires the band photographer to not only be competent as a photographer, but also be creative and unique.
How is this different to a Music Photographer?
Honestly? It isn’t. Music Photographer is just another term used to describe these amazing people.

Hello Bear: A quirky, fun three piece band out of Norwich. We have had the pleasure of being the band photographer for Hello Bear many times, and each time of working with them is more fun and unique than the time before.
Dying Breeds: Dying Breeds are an amazingly talented pop-punk band also out of Norwich and are signed to the amazing label of Intruder Records. Not only are they a fun group of guys, but the music is amazing and they allow us to be the truly creative photographer that we love to be.
Keep It Secret: Another amazing pop-punk band from Norwich. Keep It Secret are a name that we think everyone will know sooner rather than later. They were also the winners of our competition from 2011.
DJ TDK – DJ TDK is an amazing up and coming DJ and works with Deja Vu radio in London. He wanted some new images to promote himself with. As a commercial photographer my editorial photographer hat was instantly put on. We wanted these images to be different than other DJ promo images…we wanted to show who DJ TDK was. Have a look through the images at the link. This was truly an all encompassing shoot…advertising, editorial, PR and Publicity, as well as promotion.
AUX Innocent: 80’s influence band hailing from Sheffield and formerly known as The Spries. AUX Innocent were one of our more fun and different band photographer commissions. They wanted more abstract images not highlighting the members too much. AUX Innocent are also signed with Intruder Records.

What about Advertising Photographer?
Anyone that wants creative, unique, and outstanding images for use in advertising, editorials, publicity can use an advertising photographer. Our style is naturally suited for use in advertisements…especially those involving people and emotion. We take great pride in building rapport with the models that we have worked with. Putting them at ease and creating a comfortable, fun, and relaxed working environment really helps get the images that we as advertising photographers love. Our clients have said that we excel in lifestyle advertising photography. What exactly does that mean? In short….photography showing products in use. An good example of this is in the DJ TDK images were we also incorporated an advertisement shot for head phone company (as of writing this cannot be disclosed yet). We are definitely not limited to only creating commercial images involving people. We can create unique and exciting advertising images involving products on their own as well. So we learned that you are a band photographer, as well as advertising photographer…but where are you located, and where do you cover?
We are based in East Anglia just outside of Cambridge, Newmarket, and Bury St. Edmunds. We are always covering jobs in Cambridge, Norwich, London, and Ipswich. We do, however, cover a much broader are and have traveled to Birmingham and beyond many times. We can travel to you anywhere in the UK (and europe if needed. Obviously, depending on where you want the shoot to be done, there will be some travel expenses. But, this is usually not all that much.
Respected, Award Winning Band Photographer
George is a member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP) and has a Licentiate with them and was just recently featured in their magazine “Professional Imagemaker”. In the article, George was described as a rising star in the British photography world. The SWPP holds monthly photography competition in a variety of categories. Every month (well, almost every month if there is time) George enters images into the various categories. George regularly wins Silver and Gold awards in these competitions (especially the publicity category) and in June was awarded with the Judges Choice for his Publicity Photography entry. This image was one that took a lot of work and was of Cambridge band Sachanovak looking for images to be used as advertising and for their CD cover and booklet. These images came with a general brief, and we took the brief and added our band photographer flair to it…giving them truly unique, creative images that they absolutely loved. George continues to win awards regularly as a advertising photographer, urban photographer, fashion photographer, band photographer, music photographer, and for the month of August won a career high () 3 Golds and 4 Silvers.
